- Advanced Character Profile:
Advanced Character Profile Character Name: Sinaka Kyralih (Birth name: Sina Kirimid)Gender: FemaleRace: Miqo'teTribe: Keeper of the MoonFamily: Kirimid-Tyr'a'naaAge and Date of Birth: 27; 1st Sun of the 5th Astral Moon Used Canons: 6th Astra Era; the night of the Calamity, the Twelve, and the Sanctum of the Twelve in Eastern Shroud Appearance: Sinaka is of medium height for a Keeper; while she is taller than some, she would not tower above any but a Lalafell, and while she is shorter than many, she is only dwarfed by the largest Roegadyn and the tallest Elezen. Her fit physique has been honed by years of adventuring, though her appetite for "junk" foods keeps her body from looking too lean or muscular. Her bust and behind are features of mocking pride for her - not too big, not too small, just right, and she loves being a girl and having such curves to show off. Her hair is grey, highlighted with soft amethyst purple streaks, and from her time in her tribe to now, her hair length and typical styling has changed drastically. When she first left her family she had short-cropped hair, a style that fit her fervor for adventuring, but after the calamity she let her hair grow. When, after five years of waiting, she left Gridania to return to Ul'dah, her hair was past her shoulders, and she kept it from her face in pigtails, a style she soon grew known for. Nowadays, after the fall of Van Baelsar, she continued to let her hair grow, and with the coming of trouble in Coerthas, she let hit down all together, keeping it from her face by way of a secure headband. She enjoys the length and feels more mature for it, feeling like the leader she had become.Sinaka's skin tone is pale and a little wan, a lighter shade for Keepers of the Moon, but she is proud of her heritage nonetheless. She has a small beauty mark beneath her right eye and a permanent bandage across her left cheek, a reminder of an incident that happened many years ago. Her eyes are dichromatic - one light green, one light blue, and it was her grandmother's belief that such eyes brought only good luck, a fact that Sinaka would occasionally use to tease others with. She has one tattoo: the sign of the Calamity, just above the middle of her shoulder blades. She got the tattoo with the slew of others after the battle of Carteneau, and, as they do, call it the mark of their Legacy. Typical attire for Sinaka is short shorts or short skirts - she enjoys the maneuverability and the aesthetic when paired with boots. Her favorite casual outfit is a loose, casual woolen shirt, dyed her favorite shade of Rhotano Blue, with similarly died pantalettes and her soft plundered moccasins. When wearing this outfit, armed with her bow, she wears archer's ringbands to protect her thumb and middle finger from string callouses (ha, like they weren't there already) and whatever jewelry she has on hand that has been aspected for dexterity, on the off chance she or those around her may be attacked.Personality: Please include as much detail as possible. May also include: dreams/goals/amibitions, likes, dislikes, weaknesses, and strengths.Sinaka likes to think she knows who she is. She tries to embody what she values - loyalty, honesty, trust, honor - while keeping things light and amusing for her companions. She likes to play games, she enjoys teasing and putting on over-the-top displays of melodrama to show affection; her idea of a good time is hanging around poking fun and being poked. If everyone's laughing, it's a good time, even if the teasing makes faces turn pink. However, she doesn't respond much when the teasing turns down the sexual innuendo path - she doesn't mind, it's just that she blushes furiously and her brain shuts off. When hot tub parties in the Free Company house go down this road she often goes mute until topics change and she can think again. As far as dreams and ambitions go... Kyra doesn't think about the future too much. She enjoys the present, focusing on time spent with friends in the Company that gathered under the crescent wand banner; too often the rug has been pulled out beneath her, taking her off of one path and placing her on another - she doesn't know what is in store, so she doesn't stress about it too much. She knows she is expected to return to her clan and lead the family - she knows, but she makes no effort to turn her life in that direction, secretly hoping that Tarishae would eventually be given the title for the duties she has performed and Sinaka could continue what she is doing here - helping Eorzea in whatever way she could. Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Occasionally receives messages from Menphina, the Lover, goddess of the Moon, in the form of strong feelings or, on very rare occasions, strong whispered words in her head. History: Sinaka was born as a younger daughter of her core family, first among the children of her own parents but secondary to a daughter of her mother’s twin sister; this birth order gave her a bit more freedom than her “stick-in-the-mud” cousin Tarishae, but she still had her fair share of responsibilities, as her mother-and-aunt were first of her grandmother’s children. Family structure and birth order is a big thing among the roaming Keeper of the Moon clans of Thanalan – it often determined your future career, or, at the very least, your chores.Ever since she was little, her grandmother had told Sinaka that she was meant for greatness, that her multicolored eyes were a message from the Twelve that she was meant for something more; while her family took that as a sign that she might one day lead the Kirimid-Tir’a’naa, she chose to interpret it in a grander sense… Sinaka Kirimid, hero of Eorzea. While cleaning and doing errands for her elders, she often completed her tasks by pretending to be doing some grand quest that saved lives. As she grew, the dream of hers evolved as well, and while in her heart of hearts she still wished to be the Hero of Eorzea, her dreams for the future turned from saving damsels in distress and facing off against the foulest villains ever known, to simply roaming free, away from the confines of her family and clan life, and making other people’s lives better. She wanted to be an Adventurer. Her first brush with an Adventurer was minor – the woman wasn’t saving the day, or hunting down monsters, or even finding missing items; she was simply resting, enjoying the Thanalan sunshine. Sinaka immediately started talking to her, despite the aloofness towards strangers her tribe often encouraged, and found herself in the retelling of an amazing adventure in the Twelveswood surrounding Gridania. She was sold. After what seemed like years of asking (in all honesty, it was years; she met the adventurer when she was fifteen), on her nineteenth nameday, Sina Kirimid, now Sinaka Kyralih, jumped on to a caravan heading to the grand city of Ul’Dah, ready to start her life as a career adventurer, with a promise made to return to the tribe when requested to assist with whatever was needed. The change in her familial name was for her own benefit as well as theirs - if something untoward happened, they could not trace Sinaka back to her family to shame them, and with a new and unique last name, Sinaka could travel unrecognized and without any familial baggage. Later, her last name gave her comfort, as none of her enemies could trace her back to her family. At first her family assumed she would return to take command of the tribe one day, strengthened by her years away and satisfied with her life, devoid of wanderlust and filled with pride for their ways; while she knew that this was a probable course for her life to take, Sinaka still held on to the notion that Tarishae or another young woman would take command of Kirimid-Tir’a’naa, leaving her free to be a hero. While initially her training was in archery, she soon picked up another skill set - that of a conjurer, and ran into a group of people known as the Path of the Twelve, people who shared an ability she had only recently awakened to that they referred to as the Echo. While working with them she got to know some of their primary members a little better, primarily Minfilia, but on occasion she got to work with Thancred, Yda and Paplymo in doing the Path's work in various city-states. When she was officially initiated she was matched with a Path Companion, someone who would join her on missions, and she him, when given them by the Path. She grudgingly partnered with Soliel Chastain-Chevalier, a hyur lancer from Coerthas who believed as ardently as she that he didn't need a "Path Companion." Over the year they spent together, however, they both changed their tune. While they bickered and fought, neither had someone else they could trust more, and their relationship looked like it could turn into something more, until the Moon Fell. The days after the failed attempt at stopping Van Darnus's plans - an attempt Sinaka and Sol were not part of - things got rough between them; as it seemed there was no future, Sol focused on the past and talked himself into believing that if they had been on that mission, they would have been able to do something; these thoughts turned darker still, blaming first himself, and then Sinaka for shortcomings, trying to find reason to why they had not been selected for that mission by Minfilia. When it got really bad, Sinaka left him and returned home, only to be called out that fateful night by the Immortal Flames via linkshell to the Fields of Carteneau. The Garleans had come. She arrived ready to do what she could to save Eorzeans from the fight as the Moon fell ever faster; she found Sol on the battlefield and they reunited, fighting together with ease and trust, but were soon separated from each other when the moon exploded to reveal a Primal Dragon. She had never known such terror could exist. In the chaos that followed she tried her best to save as many people as possible, but lost sight of Sol in the process. When things seemed their darkest, she received a sign and a bidding: Menphina, Goddess of Love and the true Moon seemed to call to her. Being a Keeper, she of course knew of and respected Menphina as a member of the twelve, but that night, as the sky fell and hundreds perished, Menphina’s symbol, glowing brightly in the sky, showed her the way. A soft and heavenly voice called out to her, telling her where to go, how to stay safe, where to find others who were in peril. She was able to save many lives that night, through her healing and Menphina’s guidance, and she swore to forever serve Menphina in return for that kindness. But while many lives had been saved, she never saw Sol again.………………………………………………During the next five years, Sinaka turned to seclusion in the Sanctum of the Twelve, learning what she could from the religious minds therein, taking lessons in archery from the Gridanians, and attuning herself with her goddess. Sitting in meditation, there were times when Sinaka could feel Menphina’s presence in the sanctum, a soft and comforting aura surrounding her like a warm embrace, and she would occasionally catch the faintest of words. They were never whole, never complete sentences - they were the barest of whispers, the faintest of secrets, of light and love and the Moonlight. Then one day, when strange rumors of a rush of new and returned adventurers reached the Sanctum’s walls, Sinaka received the strongest message yet: “Go.”That very day she left, taking her scant possessions with her as she set out into the world once more, intent to follow the goddess’s wishes and create a fellowship of adventurers that would represent Menphina’s physical presence in Eorzea, a band that stood for Love, and Justice, a company that would never stand down in the face of the unjust and evil. With her first two companions, the Pretty Guardians were created, and have been a small but growing force in Eorzea ever since. In this new Astral Era, Sinaka reforged ties with Minfina and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, and often aided them in their fight against the Garleans and Primals, offering what council she could when requested. When the Garlean threat was diminished, Sinaka and the Pretty Guardians set to carving out a place in the world, and recruiting new members to their ranks, for the world could never have too many Pretty Guardians. ………………………………………………Time passed, and Eorzea's history darkened; Sinaka did her best to fight against the forces that threatened Aldenard, but in the end the found herself in exile, having traveled to the northern nation of Ishgard to escape political strife against the Scions. As things settled down in Eorzea, travelling in secret to and from the Ul'dah and the other nations, she helped what was left of the Scions start to put things to right, unraveling mysteries of the past to help predict the future that awaited them. In Ishgard she got involved with the Dragonsong War, and doing her best, she helped see through to what could be the end of it. Living in relative peace, Sinaka and the Pretty Guardians take to adventuring in style aboard their airship, the Mare Serentis. ………………………………………………Relationships: Her friends, her Pretty Guardians, and how she met them.Adelpha Loukas was Sinaka's first friend after the calamity, though they may not always act that way. Sinaka met Adelpha while traveling on Scion business through Coerthas; when they happened upon each other they just clicked, in a friendly rivalry sort of way. Teasing, taunting and unfair chocobo races followed, and now the two couldn't be closer.Caesaries Songbless and Sinaka met later, though it was through her encouragement that she, along with Cae and Adelpha, formed the Pretty Guardian Free Company, officially registering the group with the Immortal Flames of Ul'dah. Cae's sweet and playful personality (and her occasional fiestiness) endeared her to Sinaka immediately, and shortly after their first meeting the two were rarely a linkshell call away.Kaladin Stormbless was the first male Sinaka ever considered to be a Soldier of Menphina; his honest heart and straightforward mannerisms made him a dependable member of the original Pretty Guardian team. Gene Hawkwind was one of the more lighthearted persons Sinaka had ever come across, and she had great fun rallying parties with him, cheering on companions and dancing at inopportune times. While he has retired from the life of an adventurer, she still considers him to be one of their company, should he ever return.Alannah Corvaine SeigNineStephanOther Noteworthy Facts: Sinaka was born under the sign of Menphina. Her favorite colors are rhotano blue, brown, and ivory. Her favorite are the white and pink flowers found floating in the water near Gridania. She's not too picky about food, but with get grouchy when she's hungry. Growing up she slaked off in many of the "worthwhile" lessons on gardening and gathering, and the urge to learn them still does not click with her - she much preferred, as she still does, diplomacy: conversation, debate, and subtle manipulations, along with reading people, are a fun past-time for her, though she does not often step into the political world. | Path Companion At first, I didn’t even want him with me. I could do things on my own. I didn’t need a “Path Companion,” no matter what they said. I was all of twenty and had the world figured out; the mysteries surrounding Eorzea would be a piece of cake to crack, and if I did get into trouble, help was a linkshell call away. But they insisted, and I relented, and we chose each other, Sol and I, because of that mutual feeling that we didn’t need the other. I was wrong. After we started working together on Path of the Twelve business, two things became evident: (1) We didn’t exactly get along. From choosing the best way in to beastman territory to talking tactics before facing down an enemy, we bickered constantly and almost viciously, with eye rolls, snide remarks, and plentiful insults to the other’s intelligence; more times than one he ended up running off in a huff to do it his way and I was left to clean up the mess and make sure his stupid ass didn’t die, which was a feat in and of itself, I assure you. We always managed to pull through, but it wasn’t just my efforts that were responsible. Despite his annoyingly picky personality he had good ideas, which I only caught on to after the fact, and that brings us to (2) We shared the same core beliefs. When Minfilia announced she wanted the Path of the Twelve to ally ourselves with the beastmen tribes against Garlemald, I thought I’d finally be rid of him; there was no way his myopic little mind could wrap itself around the big picture Minfilia was hoping to achieve, but he surprised me. He was the first to agree with her, despite the cacophony of dissenters pointing out that no matter who won - the Garleans or the City States - we would be branded as traitors and outsiders. For me the notion was no huge loss; I knew what we were doing was right, and had my family to fall back on besides, but Sol? He had connections, he had friends in high places, he had his Isgardian family to think of, and yet he stepped forward willingly, practically throwing aside all of his connections in favor of Minfilia’s cause, and I stepped forward with him. At that moment our relationship changed, our mutual choice knitting us closer together than any Path-made decision could, and while he could still annoy the ever living breath out of me, we functioned better as a team for it, and with Minfilia’s newfound trust, were sent ever-deeper down the rabbit-hole, pulling apart the mysteries of our world thread by thread as we found bits and pieces of whatever tapestry the Twelve had woven. As time passed, we were teaming up on more than just Path business; whenever one of us was in a bind, it was the other to whom we made the call, rather than our linkshell mates. He helped me out of several binds in the wilds of the Shroud, facing creatures I had stumbled across that neither of us had dreamed existed; I helped him when his ties to various organizations proved tricky to deal with, as promises made to one made duties requested by another impossible, like a dagger to his cloak. Our disagreements continued for most things, but there was a trust there unlike any I had shared before; while I had worked with many in dangerous situations, he was the only one I felt I could drop my guard with and still escape unscathed. But then the moon fell.Despite our efforts, despite the efforts of the Path of the Twelve, the City States, and their Grand Companies, the worst had come to pass. The Raven had pulled down the moon. Sol and I had not been directly involved with the operation to destroy Nael Van Darnus before his machinations came to fruition, and in the days following, as Dalamud grew ever bigger in the sky, Sol’s frustration and guilt grew to encompass him. He was certain that things would have been different if we had been there, that we would have seen something the original team missed, that we could have stopped him before he started the Fall. He was certain that if he had done more, the moon would not be our doom, and as the red moon grew visible during daylight his frustration boiled over into a blinding rage. He lashed out at everyone, including me, even going to far as to blame me for our not being chosen to fight Van Darnus head on. I was the weak link, I wasn’t strong enough. Hurt by his accusations, I left. I knew what he said he had said only in anger. I knew he thought more of me, and I of him, but Dalamud had changed things. The future was now wholly uncertain, and unable to really come to terms with that, he had turned to hyper-examining the past. I returned to Ul’dah and the Quicksand, but while my intent had been to take to Western Thanalan and find my kin, a linkshell announcement drove me to Carteneau. Despite the Moon’s proximity and the danger it posed, the Garleans were attacking. As a free adventurer I allied myself with the Immortal Flames and faced the charge to heal the wounded and press their advances back. I saw Sol there on the field, his lance in hand, and without thinking we joined together, fighting and healing completely in sync; we didn’t need words. I knew he was sorry, he knew I had forgiven him; as the clouds rumbled with the red mass, we both knew this was probably the end. And then the moon exploded. In the chaos that followed, as the great lord of the dragons exploded from his shell and wreaked havoc, we were separated. I ran to heal a fallen soldier, he ran to attack a Garlean soldier who refused to take this as a sign to stop fighting and get away. In the mass of bodies I lost him; when a guiding light - the symbol of Menphina - appeared overhead, a voice guided me forward and I ushered the wounded towards it, calling out for others to follow as the earth was rendered asunder, as great gusts of wind pressed us down. Protection spells flew from my mouth faster than I had ever thought possible, my aim better than it had ever been. Somehow we made it to safety, me and a score of others, but as I scanned the crowd, Sol wasn’t there. I had turned back to the field, determined to find him, but a powerful wave knocked me back as a shell formed over a section of the battlefield moments before a great blast of fire and energy engulfed the dead plains. I searched the Fields of Carteneau with other volunteers and healers for hours after that sudden end, combing through the dead and wounded, healing who I could, flagging who I could not for thurmaturges to read their final rites. Sol was among neither. Days later, when the business was finally concluded, I went to our usual place, I then tried the Waking Sands, the Quicksand, the Flames headquarters, his family’s house in Coerthas - he was nowhere to be found. So I returned home to my family to show them I was alright, and then left for the Sanctum of the Twelve to recover and see what I could discover about the voice from that night, and to mourn Sol, though I never admitted it to myself at the time. Five years later I felt the urge to head back into the world. I would find Minfilia and see if she needed me again, I could see what new mysteries awaited me, and unravel them by myself. I found like-minded people, formed a Free Company founded on justice and helping others; I moved on. When I learned that adventurers that had been missing for five years had been found, I kept my hope in check; if we found each other, we found each other, and maybe Menphina had something to do with it. If not... | |
